Hardware & Semiconductor holds 62.4% of the pool (12,629 engineers) in just 28 companies. Silicon vendors concentrate the majority — this is where PCIe / DDR / high-speed digital validation lives. Aerospace & Defense #2 at 15.1% (3,049 engineers, 23 companies) — the surprise second. IT Services & Consulting #3 at 12.1% (2,458 engineers across just 6 companies) — wide-and-thin: a small handful of large IT-services shops. Automotive & Mobility (3.4%) and Energy & Industrial (3.3%) round out the top five with distinct specialisms (ISO 26262, industrial ruggedisation).

But those percentages are averaged across ALL 70 companies.
